NAAC Peer team visits Phek Govt College for 2nd accreditation cycle

 

The two-day second cycle of NAAC Accreditation for Phek Government College was held on May 30 and 31.

The institution was assessed by three NAAC Peer team members consisting of Dr Rajesh Jaipurkar, Chairperson NAAC Peer Team (Pro-Vice Chancellor, Principal, Arts, Science and Commerce College, Chikhaldara, Maharashtra), Dr Sandeep Kulshreshtha, Member Co-ordinator NAAC Peer Team (Director Centre for Promotion of Ecological Adventure Health and Cultural Tourism, Central University Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala) and Dr K Dhirendro Ramsiej, Member NAAC Peer Team (Principal, Seven Huts Higher Secondary School, Shillong, Meghalaya).

On their arrival to the college, the Peer Team members were received by the fraternity with a reception programme led by Dr ShurhonuoTsurho, Assistant Professor, Department of English.

The first day of assessment consisted of presentation from Principal, IQAC, and interactions with all the Departments (Arts & Science), interactions with Associations like Parent-Teacher, Alumni, Administration, Non-Teaching Staff, Student Council Executives and Faculty members. On-site verification of facilities like Skill Development club, Artefacts gallery, Library, Science Laboratories, Mushroom Cultivation unit, Floriculture unit, Mushroom Spawn Production Laboratory and hostels were carried out by the Peer Team members.

The first day of assessment culminated with a cultural programme which was held at the Deo Nukhu Hall. The cultural programme was led by Nivi Achumi, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, welcome note by Principal, Dr T Tiakaba Jamir. A speech was delivered by Peer Team Member Dr K Dhirendro Ramsiej, Member NAAC Peer Team. Various cultural performances like quartet, folk fusion, cultural display of traditional attires was showcased by the students. The cultural programme ended with vote of thanks by the Vice Principal, Shepalu Suyie.

On the second day, an interaction with conveners of various committees and cells was carried out followed by the compilation and writing of the report by the Peer Team. The exit meeting with the institution’s stakeholders was chaired by Dr H Atoholi with welcome note by Dr T Tiakaba Jamir and short speech by Dr Rajesh Jaipurkar, Chairman NAAC Peer Team. It concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Nutazo Lohe, IQAC Coordinator, Phek Government College.

During the two-day assessment, officials from the Higher Education Department were also present for interactions, Additional Director of Higher Education, Dr K Nishena Nyekha and Atula Aier, Nodal Officer for Quality Assurance.  Deputy Commissioner of Phek John Tsulise Sangtam, NCS along with 38th Assam Rifles, Col Prasant Singh Chundawa also visited the institution and interacted with the NAAC Peer Team Members.
